Pulsed Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Spin Echo
نویسنده
چکیده
This experiment is an example of magnetic resonance a class of experiments in which very small energy separations (typically 10−7 eV) of quantum mechanical states are determined by measuring the frequency of a sinusoidally varying magnetic field, which induces transitions between the states. Some examples of magnetic resonance experiments are: nuclear magnetic resonance [1, 8], nuclear quadrupole resonance [8] electron spin resonance [9], atomic beam magnetic resonance [10], and optical pumping [11]. These different experiments are distinguished by the systems under study i.e. atoms, nuclei, or solids, and by the method of detection of the resonance. Magnetic resonance has played an important role in almost every field of physics. Examples of the physical quantities measured in these experiments are given below.

Pulsed gradient spin echo nuclear magnetic resonance imaging of diffusion in granular flow
We derive the formalism to obtain spatial distributions of collisional correlation times for macroscopic particles undergoing granular flow from pulsed gradient spin echo nuclear magnetic resonance diffusion data. This is demonstrated with an example of axial motion in the shear flow regime of a 3D granular flow in a horizontal rotating cylinder at one rotation rate.

Background & Aims: In recent years, iron oxide nanoparticles have been used in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosing a wide range of diseases. In order to provide biocompatibility and prevent the toxicity of the nanoparticles, using organic or inorganic coating around these nanoparticles is important for their application. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect...
متن کاملGeometric distortion evaluation of magnetic resonance images by a new large field of view phantom for magnetic resonance based radiotherapy purposes
Background: The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiotherapy planning method have been considered in recent years because of the advantages of MRI and the problems of planning with two images modality. The first step in MRI-based radiotherapy is to evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) images geometric distortion. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate system related geometric distort...
متن کاملPulsed Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: Spin Echoes
This experiment explores nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) both as a physical phenomenon concerning atomic nuclei and as a ubiquitous laboratory technique for exploring the structure of bulk substances. Using radio frequency bursts tuned to resonance, pulsed NMR perturbs a thermal spin ensemble, which behaves on average like a magnetic dipole. One immediate consequence is the ability to measure ...
متن کاملNuclear Magnetic Resonance in Solid Zinc
The nuclear magnetic resonance of Zn in hexagonal close-packed Zn metal has been observed at 4.2 K by pulsed NMR with three different frequencies. The spin echo profile showed a well resolved powder pattern due to electric quadrupole interaction. The quadrupole coupling constant was determined to be e q Q/h = 12.0 (4) MHz. The spinspin and spin-lattice-relaxation times were measured to be T2 = ...
